Arcosanti Adventure

Today Melissa and I took a day trip to go visit my darling little brother, Andrew who is doing work/research/whatever else he does at Arcosanti. Arcosanti is kind of hard to explain but its a place that is forward in design, construction and conservation but looks a little like a hippie community. Andrew says that they are trying to steer people away from thinking of it as a place for hippies. So far, I don't think its working!

So, we stole Andrew away for a good part of the day. First we had lunch at a Burger King just north of Arcosanti, I forgot the name of the city, where we met an intersting homeless man named Jeff. Then we headed up to Sedona and pretty much just walked up and down the shopping area. Before heading back we stopped in Cottonwood, to the nearest Walmart so Andrew could stock up on some goodies.

We had so much fun laughing and playing around all day. It was really good to spend some time with my brother. There is a 5 year age gap and I was out of the house before he even started high school so its neat to hang out with him as adults. It's also neat to see what your siblings grow up to be. He is such an amazingly smart guy! He knows something about everything. He is 22 and already has a bachelors degree in geography and is now deciding which college to get his masters degree at. I call him the smartest member of my family. This guy is definatly going places!

I'm also really glad that my good friend Melissa got to come with me today. I enjoy spending time with her because she makes me feel comfortable, is fun to be around and can give me great advice, even when she's not meaning to.

We all had a spectacular day and now all I want to do is lay in my cozy bed and take an 8 hour nap!

Happy Birthday to my Kirkle!

Today is Kirk's 29th birthday.

Yes, I'll tell anyone how old he is...cause he's old now!

This morning I gave him his birthday present(s). I couldn't wait cause I laughed so hard when I bought them. He did too, when I gave them to him.

Then I took him to our traditional birthday dinner spot...Joe's BBQ! We use to go there almost weekly but I now, I can't even remember the last time we went. Sad, I know.

All in all, Kirk had a very awesome day. I can't wait till next year when I can throw him an awesome surprise party...shhh...don't tell! :)
